    Our Expectations of Recipients:
  • Committed to completing the rating
  • Prepared for your flight lessons
  • Show up for lessons on time
  • Prepare for your written exam
  • Attend quarterly status reports with the board of directors
  • Attend the annual Gathering of Eagles meeting
  • Recipients who are also school students are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher

    Selection Process:
    Step 1:Check the web site to see when the next scholarships will be awarded and the deadlines for application. This information can be found in the Schedule area of this site.
    Step 2:If our award dates work with your training schedule, complete an application and send it to us by e-mail or U.S. mail. Our address can be found in the Contact Us area of this site.
    Step 3:A Tailwind Foundation Advisory Board will meet to discuss each of the applications and finalists will be selected for interview. Applicants will be notified whether or not they have been selected for interview.
    Step 4:Following the interviews, the Advisory Board will determine which applicants will receive scholarships and will notify the finalists of the awards.
        The scholarships we can award are limited based on the operating budget of the foundation. It is not possible to award all applicants a meaningful scholarship. Applicants who are not awarded scholarships are encouraged to reapply at a later date. Scholarship recipients are also welcome to apply for a second scholarship but will not be awarded concurrent scholarships.
